Cromwell's New Model ArmyThe New Model Army commanded by Oliver Cromwell was created during the English Civil War. Unlike Charles' army that was based on the position that one had in society, Cromwell's army was based on the abilities in which the person has. The advancements that there were in technology changed the uniforms of the military. Instead of having steel uniforms, men had normal clothing that allowed them to easily move. They were also indoctrinated on why they were fighting, a step from simple conscription and figting.

Napoleonic Era
During this era in human conflict armor had been rendered obsolete because of the effectiveness of the musket. The grenadiers would wear the goofy beaver hats that are often seen around Buckingham palace. The tall hats of the day were sometimes used as a musket bipod which allowed the soldier to fire from the prone position. The reason for the colorful uniforms of the era was because of the smokescreen caused by firing thousands of blackpowder firearms. They served the same function of modern day GPS telling each soldier whose friendly and who isn't.

World War OneAt the beginning of the First World War neither side had standard issue helmets as both sides originally planned for a Napoleonic style war. However, trench warfare and shrapnel would change all that. The french would adopt a fireman helmet design, the Germans would be issued their distinctive spiked helmets. and the British would be given their Mk 1 helmets. The British favored their helmet because it was cheap and could be made out of a single sheet of steel. The Germans and the French favored their's with its better protective capabilities.
Modern Military UniformModern military uniform are now built to protect the lives of the soldiers for any conditions that were to come in their way. For example the boots in which these men wear are made so that they can walk in rough conditions whether its hot or cold. These uniforms also include pockets so that the military men can put in their small weapons if they were needed in an emergency. The modern day uniforms are made so that it also becomes easier for the military men to move from one place to another quicker and safer. A more modern feature of uniforms in modern armies is bulletproof vests.

World War II
The second world war saw the emergence of what is considered Modern Warfare. Tanks had developed to be mobile, armored, and heavily armed super weapons that are known today. Airplanes had become fighter capable of either destroying the enemy in the air, or dropped thousands of pound of high explosive on the ground. Artillery was now more accurate and more powerful than they had been before. These technological developments lead to a new type of uniform that allowed the soldier to be more mobile and a more effective fighting unit.
